About Us


James W. (Chub) Young acquired and reopened three existing Shoney Big Boy Restaurants in each of the Tri Cities with 45 employees in 1971. Shoney’s was then established as Young & Associates and has grown to include 350 employees in eight Shoney restaurants throughout East Tennessee (Johnson City, Kingsport, and Newport) and Southwest Virginia (Abingdon, Bristol, Dublin, Hillsville and Wytheville).   In 2001, our company became Employee Owned and Operated Shoney’s Franchise (Esop). Our goal is to provide Quality Food, Great Service, Pleasant Atmosphere in a clean Restaurant. We take pride in our business and strive to be a business partner in our communities.
